The Akron Zoo is a wonderful place to come nose-to-nose with wildlife from around the world, while spending time with family and friends. The zoo was designed to provide an up-close animal experience and is right sized for a 3 to 4 hour visit. Besides animals, the Akron Zoo is full of beautiful gardens and landscaping. If native plants interest you, then a trip to the zoo is for you.
There are many fun things to do at the zoo, including enjoying a carousel and train ride, plus the opportunity to feed the animals in the Farmland area. A full event schedule and special promotions means there is always something new and exciting happening at the Akron Zoo.
The Akron Zoo is one of just 230 institutions accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Accredited zoos and aquariums account for only 10% of all licensed animal exhibitors. Accreditation means the zoo is operated in a professional manner with a focus on animal care and welfare, conservation education, sustainability and a quality guest experience. The Akron Zoo is inspected every five years by an AZA inspection team to make sure the zoo is meeting or exceeding the rigorous standards set by AZA.
